About Us

Nevada County Television is operated by the Nevada County Digital Media Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation located in beautiful Sierra foothills town of Nevada City, California. Here's a copy of our corporate by-laws.

See below for phone numbers. Send all mail, including DVDs, to our new mailing address: P.O. Box 2216, Nevada City CA 95959. We can't receive any mail or packages at our actual location: 400 Providence Mine Rd., Building N3, Nevada City, CA 95959.

We provide programming on local cable TV channels through a Memo of Understanding between the Media Center, the County of Nevada, the City of Grass Valley, the City of Nevada City, Comcast cable company and Suddenlink cable. NCTV is sometimes referred to as “PEG” TV because we can broadcast Public, Educational and Government programming, usually on separate channels designated by the cable company.(Presently we are broadcasting Public [Community] and Government progams.)

NCTV is a "Public Access" community TV station. Public Access means the public has the right to access the cable television system, via their local PEG station, for the production and broadcast of local programming. Since FCC regulations permit the vast majority of TV to be controlled by major corporations broadcasting nationally via airwaves, cable or satellite, Public Access is the only way that ordinary citizens can use the medium of television to create and view programming about, and for, their local communities.

In line with FCC guidelines for public TV and radio, our TV programming must be non-commercial but may be supported by underwriting sponsors. We depend on these underwriters and the support of our local community -- via memberships and donations -- to bring you local programs about our community.
